Seniors National Table Tennis Championships 2023: Medals Won
The highlight of the Senior’s events was Gabriel Grixti’s incredible win in the Men’s Seniors Singles Event for the second year in a row. This is a testament to his hard work and dedication to the sport, and it is clear that he has been putting in a lot of effort to maintain his form and stay on top of his game.
In the final game, Gabriel played to the tee both strategically and psychologically to win 4 – 1 over Andrew Gambina. After weeks of preparation, Gabriel came on to the match rather strong, always leading and finishing excellently every time the opportunity came his way.
In the Seniors Mixed Doubles event, Sascha Genovese and Gabriel Grixti reached the final, only to claim the silver after a very tactical and intense match.
Another notable performance was from Sascha Genovese, who teamed up with Anthea Cutajar from MITTC to grab gold in the Ladies Doubles event. The two played exceptionally well together, showcasing their skills and teamwork throughout the match.
In the Men’s Doubles event, Gabriel and Isaac Grixti put up a strong fight but ultimately had to settle for a well-deserved silver medal. It is clear that the two have great chemistry and coordination on the table, and we can expect to see them achieve more success in the future.
And, last but not least, our Head Coach Mario Genovese won the Veterans Title for the eighth time, a remarkable achievement that demonstrates his consistency and mastery of the sport. Mario topped his group, then won an intense 5-set semifinal against David Pace to proceed to the final against Claudio Tufigno for another 5 sets of great table tennis.
