What’s happening at HiTT

HiTT Malta Table Tennis Academy is always on the move, organising local and international events all year round. Apart from participation in the Malta Table Tennis National League organised by the Malta Table Tennis Association (MTTA), HiTT Malta Table Tennis Academy also organises its own ranking tournaments.

Take a look at our Calendar of Events for information on upcoming activities.

Malta Table Tennis National League

The national league is a yearly event organised by the MTTA. The league is divided into two rounds and matches are held weekly between October and May each year. There are currently four divisions in the league. Matches are held at the National Sports Complex in Tal-Qroqq.

1st and 2nd Division matches are played every Monday, while the 3rd and 4th Division matches are held on a Friday. You can check out all the league dates on the official MTTA calendar of events by following this link: https://mtta.net/calendar/.

HiTT Malta Table Tennis Academy Ranking Tournaments

Club ranking tournaments are held per quarter for members of the academy. The tournament is divided according to skill, with an Elite category, 3 Star category, 2 Star category, 1 Star category, Mini-cadet category and Beginner category. Matches are all held at HiTT Malta Table Tennis Academy’s main venue, at St Albert The Great College, Old Bakery Street, Valletta.

Other notable yearly events

Every year, HiTT Malta Table Tennis Academy organises international training camps for academy players. The students are selected according to various criteria and offered opportunities to train with the best European talent. Notable international camps organised by HiTT Malta Table Tennis Academy include Swerve in the UK, TTFY in Netherlands and the Ioannina training camp in Greece.

HiTT Malta Table Tennis Academy is also involved in events for charity, usually to aid charitable institutions such as the Malta Community Chest Fund and other organisations that help those in need.

Another yearly appointment is the Junior and Senior Maltese National Championships. HiTT Malta Table Tennis Academy is always on the forefront of these events. In the 2018 editions, we managed to grab 19 gold and 9 silver medals out of 25 events.

The amount of training needed to play in the National League depends on the division you will be playing in and your targets. For example, if you're playing just for fun, one or two sessions per week are enough. If you want to succeed in a higher division and play at a more advanced level, you would need four sessions per week.

To play in a HiTT Academy ranking tournament you will need to be a member of the club and attend regular training sessions. Hitt us with an email on [email protected] or contact us on WhatsApp +35679591799 for more information.
