€3,700! This is the total amount raised during our 24-hour table tennis marathon, funds that will be used to help kids with mental health issues. The event, held at our training centre in Pembroke between Tuesday 12th December at 5 pm and 13th December 2023, was possible thanks to the Lions Club Mdina Malta Host, The Malta Trust Foundation, and a multitude of volunteers who helped with the organisation of all the events held during the marathon.
A big thank you goes to all the people who donated – your contributions have made this possible!
The 24hr Marathon
The official opening of our 24 hour marathon (which was extended to 26 hours!) was made by Malta Olympic Committee General Secretary Mr Kevin Azzopardi.
Apart from donations, we organised a number of fundraising activities, including the sale of food and drinks, a car wash, collection boxes in Valletta and Sliema, competitions for all levels of players, a Ping Pong blue bat tournament, a Davis Cup competition, a raffle and much more. People could also rent tables for as long as they wanted and join in the fun.
How Will The Collected Funds Help Kids?
The donated sum will go straight to the Blossom Project, an initiative that is managed by the Malta Trust Foundation, spearheaded by President Emeritus Marie Louise Coleiro Preca.
The Blossom Project was launched in St Paul’s Bay Primary School in 2016, and since then has been providing primary school children with full-time free counselling and psychotherapy services. This project ensures timely and effective support to approximately 700 children and young people attending these schools, as well as their families and the school community at large.
