Great performances at the MTTA 1st Senior Ranking 2016/17

08/10/2016

Great performances could be watched yesterday by many of HiTT Academy players in the MTTA 1st Senior Ranking Tournament 2016/17. Gabriel Grixti registered a strong win against Head Coach Mario Genovese in the quarter-final with what we consider to be the best match of the day. Talent and hard work together have brought Gabriel to the top level of the local table tennis scene under the guidance and expertise of Coach Mario.

Coach Uriy Leymanovskiy reached the final where he lost to Daniel Bajada however playing strong matches in the run up to the final. In the semi-final Uriy clenched an important victory against Edward Baldacchino from TopSpin TTA when after a 2-0 lead he found himself struggling in the 3rd and 4th sets and managed to take victory in the final set coming back from a 1-5 loss to 8-8, then trailing 8-10 and eventually winning 13-11. A nail biting game!

Newcomer to the HiTT Team was Nick Christensen from Denmark who played very well and we look forward to further improving his performance at the club. Nick reached the quarter finals where he lost to Isaac Grixti (also from HiTT Academy) in another close encounter to the 5th set won at 12-10 by Isaac.
