431 euros raised by HiTT Academy in aid of Alive Charity Foundation

Together for a good cause

Here at HiTT Academy we always support good causes. This time, we wanted to help one of our players raise money for cancer research. James Camilleri decided to do the cycling challenge together with the Alive Charity Foundation. He will be crossing over 1000 kilometres in 7 days with his bike, cycling from Austria to Milan. James has been preparing for this event for months, training hard every single day to be able to withstand the challenging road trip.

How we did it

On Saturday 19 May 2018 we organised a Davis Cup fun event, inviting HiTT Academy players to team up with a parent and compete against other parent/player teams. Oh the fun! We had a total of 16 teams taking part, starting with 4 groups, with the top 2 teams of every group moving on to the next stage of the competition. In each match, parent met parent, player met player, and any decider matches were played in a doubles encounter. Although this was a fun event, there was a competitive edge to every match, creating such an energetic vibe that lasted the whole 6 hours until the final match.

All the participants donated a sum that went 100% towards the fund. Additionally, we had a small tuck shop with food donated by many volunteers, and all proceeds also went totally towards the final sum raised.

Best of luck to James

We hope that the sum we managed to raise will help this good cause. We thank all those who took part in any way, big or small, in making this event a huge success. We all had lots of good table tennis fun and once again showed that together we can do amazing things as one big family. Good luck to James Camilleri–we’re sure he’ll rock this challenge!

About Alive Charity Foundation

ALIVE Charity Foundation is the first charity foundation to raise funds for medical research in Malta. In its first 5 years it has managed to donate over €500,000 towards Cancer Research and Cancer Care. The sponsored research has already resulted in ground-breaking discoveries which have enabled more efficient identification of cancers in order to provide targeted treatment. ALIVE is now funding treatment research which is leading to more effective and sustainable cancer treatment. Funds from the first 2 years were directed towards Breast Cancer Research, whilst the funds from the last 2 years have been directed towards Children’s Cancer Research.
